am i already in the mood for a picnic in spring-summer?

i have gone mad over a floral-elaborate dress and i think it is the first time in my life that this is happening.

so mad that i smile to myself (like when one's in love and thinking of his/her other half) whenever i think of holding it and then wearing it - even though i know i have an obsession with this soon-to-be posession.

the thought of that dress chases away whatever blue feelings i may have. and i am already planning the shoes, accessories (bag, shades, and belt) and jewllery (gold gold gold) to match.

needless to say, i am anticipating its arrival. they say good things and lovely things and terrific things and gorgeous things are worth waiting for - so i'm afraid i don't have much of a choice :(

but hopefully it will arrive along with a poker-print frill satin thong from topshop that looks so skirty and is already sold out in the local stores.

me likee :) because it's satin and skirty and playfully-poker printed with hearts and diamonds and spades which me considers as a rarity as compared with the usual cotton or chiffon stuff.

imagine my dismay when i hesitated on purchasing it in my size and then changed my mind 2 hours later only to realise it was already GONE. and calls and visits to other branches left me feeling disappointed and upset. T_T!

the current madness for wearables, as i've noticed, does not consist of accessories or tank tops or striped dresses or preppy jackets - it consists instead, of all things in blue with red prints or satin (a material which i previously resisted cos i felt i had to be ultra-careful to ensure i didn't look like i was wearing pajamas). i wonder how long this fad of mine'll last, considering that in the past 2 weeks or so i have just bought a blue satin dress, navy chiffon dress with red ribbon prints, a blue maxi dress, black shoes with navy ribbons, turquoise-mustard funk wedges, and possibly other blooish stuff which ain't at the memory of my fingertips at the moment.
bloo is love for now.

my thoughts while tasting Dallas Chicken...

my bro's babysitter's daughter had passed away due to breast cancer.

which reminded me of my concerns with regards to the whole issue of.. breast cancer.

1) it is recommended that women go for a mammogram once every 2 years. what happens if - only in between those 2 years do cancer cells start developing and spreading?

2) are mammograms like x-rays? in that they both involve a certain level of radiation which make doctors suggest that we do not go for them too often? if women go for mammograms faithfully (once every 2 years), would the exposure to that amount of radiation increase the chance of developing cancer cells?

tea with xiaobin, momo, ailae and doodoo.

ailay and i brought xiaobin and domo out for an afternoon.

:D whee~ domo has 2 new friends.. and one of whom (Ailay) was extremely thrilled to get to know him. from his ending-with-'ah'-sounds-language to his animated actions.. i think ailay kinda loved 'em all. :D

she is officially nicknamed as domo's nanny because she is more than willing to carry him for me while i shop.

anyway, i sometimes felt as if people would think we're crazy to be talking to and with each other's stuffed toys.. but when you have a friend to be crazy with you and your loved ones, which in this case of mine is domomomo, what people think doesn't really matter.

now that i've stopped working full-time, i have time for books!

im back to reading sophie kinsella (while waiting for jodi piccoult's 2009 release to be out)

since i've completed the shopaholic series, i've decided to read some of her other books, other than "remember me?". so i've embarked on "can you keep a secret?" and have finished it.

it is wonderful.. as when i hit the middle of the book, i was laughing A LOT. heehee! the thing with a chick lit like this is.. it makes me wish that the main man described in the book exists.

well, if he does.. fairytales wouldn't exist. and i'd say sophie kinsella's books are the modern-day fairytales. girl meets guy. guy turns out to be mr rich mr gentle mr caring mr nice mr prince charming.

but still, several aspects of the book (eg. daily conversations) seem so real and perfect that it becomes a joy to read. and i'm yearning for more (which means i need to head down to the book store ASAP!). and i happen to be doing so this afternoon, with ailay and xiaobin and momo and doodoo.

we are nerds! heheE!

weird turn-arounds.

instead of shopping, ailay and i seem to be spending more and more time on gastronomia instead.

first we discovered a little place with cooshy carpets and cushions where you can get milo and honey lemon drinks.

now, we're into crispy waffles, crumble pies, chocolate and lychee martini ice cream.

X_X.

shopping wise - i decided i want to get a new hair accessory for fun's sake. and so i did - only it was exceptional and unexpected. i got myself (and so did ailay for herself) hat hair-pins. updates with pictures soon - when i'm feeling cute. by the way, the purple hat hairpins are so cute, i want to get a couple more of them in other colours. teehee!

needless to say, i bought a dress on impulse as well. a mini floral printed number, with little PURPLE things that make me feel so insecure because as much as those tiny floral prints look sooooo freaking sweet, i think that they make me look huge in comparison. besides the size of the prints, could anyone imagine me wearing purple? PURPLE - my supposedly most-detested colour EVER. not to mention, even the hat hairpin's purple too.

i can't tell if i'm getting old - old enough to be able to accept purple now..

anyway, we had dance class yesterday. class started late cos our dance teacher left his keys in his office and had to run back to get them (yes i doubt he makes a living out of teaching dance, but sometimes it's better to teach it simply for the love of it). when he came back, and turned his back to us when the class started, my jaw dropped and so did Ailay's. because he was thoroughly sweated up from lower spine to upper back. apparently, ailay, doodoo and eric noticed his tattoo.. which i think i might have, but have chosen to ignore it to the point of forgetting entirely about what i had witnessed - because i can't even remember what design he had. perhaps, i was too focussed on picking up on the turns and box-steps.

salsa's tempo is getting faster and more exciting. i don't want to quit it at all!

and.. i seriously and honestly wish i had dance classes more often.

mememememe...

just a couple of things that make me so excited that i can't sleep.

1) today i received through the mail the new leggings i ordered and i can't wait to wear 'em. i've never had checks on my legs for as long as i can remember, so i hope it works out well.
2) i still have not received my ralph lauren polo dress in pink, which leads to much unrest, dismay, and worry.
3) i'm meeting ailay in 14.5 hours from now to go to haji lane!
4) i've been looking at catalogues and stuff and i'm expecting myself to purchase a couple more dresses online before christmas comes (or actually, the moment they're launched - i can't wait!).
5) i'm still day-dreaming about my dream purse: the chanel 2.55 in classic, timeless black-gold, or in a chi-chi pink-gold combination.
6) i'm wondering when doodoo'll make me a "hi" necklace. hello?
7) when will my navy-black leopard hoodie and shorts set plus my black bra set (adorned with bling and bling and blingbling) arrive?
8) i want that Out Of Stock asos dress badly.
9) christmas is coming!
10) 10 things ain't "a few things" to be excited about.

nitenite.

i miss dance.

doo, eric, ailay and i skipped dance on wednesday (leaving me with much regret and guilt because i've been looking forward to dance since God knows when).

eric wanted to spend more time with his grandma who'll be flying back to Hong Kong soon.. and doo and i were going to The Arena for the launch of Jeffrey Chung's 2009 calendar - which was filled with pictures of girls in bikinis. well, there were bikinis of every kind - set to appeal to all sorts of men with different tastes from one another. well, as they say, one man's meat is another man's poison. so the whole concept was quite smart (though not necessarily appealing to me, but nevermind, cos i'm not their target audience). the main theme was retro - but you can find bikinis that are cheena retro, candy-pop retro, really-beach retro, slut-retro, disco-retro and etc etc. in the calendar.

sad to say, neither the girls nor the bikinis impressed me much. none were unique.

well then again, what was i expecting? (with the big hoo-haa about those calendars being given out only during the event and with the limited quantity of 1000 and all, i think i was deluded and expected something more exquisite to match with the idea of exclusive).

so doo and i spent the night sitting at a bar, people watching.

there was the office crowd.
the loners.
the couples.
the groups of mid-to-late twenty-somethings.
the not-yet-18s who were disgustingly taking photos of themselves clubbing. (which i know are going to end up on somebody's blog and i so do not see what's the big deal of putting up such stuff). does it really look glam and hot as they drink and dance their life away on one little spot? i think i'm getting old. but nevertheless, this is living proof of how hotness and desireability of a woman is measured superficially by how she dances, or how slim she is. unfortunately, the world has gotten really cheap in this way, and yet expensive in another: the endless-beauty-fixes-please! kinda way.

the clubbing stuff has been going on in sg for such a long time now that all this is now a cliche actually. nothing surprising to everyone, yet for a slice of what my wednesday's night was like - yea it is this "normality" which took over.

therefore, after that one night, i think i would still stick to my own stand:
if you can't drink and you can't dance, don't club.

Mission: Accomplished.

Finally, doo, unknown and i got to celebrate Ailay's 22nd bdae.

We prepared 22 presents to mark her age. (And this is the first time i've ever done this for anyone. i'd suggest that if you're thinking of doing so, do it soon, before the person gets really old).

here's the birthday list with thoughtful messages mostly prepared by doodoo (thoughtful because we had intentions to tease and provoke):
1. Pearl Bracelet – They say pearls make a person looks elegant... LOOK ONLY.
2. Purple Pearl Earrings – We always believe in being complete so gotta match above…
3. Anchor Necklace – Hey, we know it doesn’t match the pearls, but you are anchored to us, baby!
4. Puffy-Furry Lingerie – Kinky encounter for whoever is the lucky one to see you in them!
5. Card – Of course, Hand written, heart-felt note from us! One and only in the world!
6. My Melody Handphone Strap – Act cute with it… Okay, TRY to act cute with it…
7. Cake Towel – You don’t really think we are going to give you a real cake, aye?
8. Red Hot Floral Flip-Flops – Pi-Piak, Pi-Piak? Don’t walk like an auntie in them!
9. Monopoly Water Works Tee – Do not pass go, Do not collect… Oops!
10. Soft toy – We are just giving you another excuse to talk to them…
11. Kenzo Perfume Miniature – Making you gian to buy a big bottle...
12. Classic Manicure – Wave us goodbye with beautiful nails, okay?
13. Cookie Mirror – Caution! Purely for display only! Do not chew!
14. Gold Belt – Yes, we wanna remind you to keep your pants up…
15. Fur Remover – Electrical Shaver… hmmmm… Don’t anyhow ah!
16. The Pinkie Willie – You know why we give you this.. :P
17. Flower Power Ring – Don’t you just find it gorgeous?
18. Coach Keychain – Need we say more?
19. Bahkwa – Enjoy it while you still can…
20. The Yummy Condom - *slurp*
21. Crystal Pen – Bling it on!
22. Heart Box – Cos we love you.

and.. when Ailay opened up this box of gooooooodies, and went through all the stuff, she so wanted to cry. she stared at us with silence, and we stared back, and either one of us'll look away. this repeated itself for a couple of times before she finally boohooed.

when she regained her composure like 253492038 hours later (just kidding), she called me and thanked me for sitting on the 2nd row of the lecture theatre on the first day of school (because that was our first meeting and chatting point!), and proceeded to ask me why i chose to sit there.

actually, the reason was really simple (and i'm not sure if one would consider it disappointing)...

i am short-sighted.

and i refuse to wear spectacles.

so.. there wasn't really much of a choice other than to sit at the front of the lecture hall.

woops :X
