eeks.eww.the horrifying sort of PINK X_X!
i did my nails at polished divas. $30 for express mani + pedi.
smartie me decided to look at the nail colours under their bright orange table lamps, because every other time i did my nails there, the colours always turned out to be much brighter when i stepped out of the nail lounge (which is rather shocking).
well it turned out to be a nasty decision. cos after i stepped out, my nails seemed horridly darker than what they looked like under the light. the hot red-darkpink i expected turned out to be some fugly fuschia-purple (as cheapo-looking and yucky as china pink) and so now i don't want to look at my toes because they make me mad. ugh i already have half the heart to wipe the colour all off with the polish remover, but i cannot decide which one is worse: having some fugly colour on, or having plain fugly nails on.
my fingernails appeared a shade darker from what i had expected them to be, but the colour's still bearable. my only peeve is that they were cut and filed square (oh why oh why did i have them done that way again!?), which makes them look short and thus makes my fingers look short -.- all the growing over the past few weeks were thus for nothing. if i'm going to do them again the next time i do my toes, i'll make sure they're ROUND. but then again, i am seriously convinced about 1 thing: pedicures are my thing, but not manicures. they look fab of course, but i only like them to be on for a day and nothing more. i think they look polished (duh!) with paint on, but i think they look naturally great when they're long and without it too (especially when i have short, square fingernails now -.-).
to some extent we'll never be happy with what we have. but i am extremely happy with the way my fingernails were before i had them painted -.- and if they were roundedly shaped before painting :( i just can't help but wonder and try out to see why people liked short, square fingernails (other than for the fact that they look neat, but then what's the point of doing a manicure then? to have neat nails which you can have even if you don't get 'em painted?). i think squares'd look great if u're using acrylic fakies or if you grow them out REALLY LONG. and i would've been happy of course if the colour for my toes didn't horrifying turn out to be the sort of pink i hate. i think i want to coop myself up in a darker room. cos then the toenails'll look reddish, which is a colour that i am more than used to seeing on them.
i finally understand why i thought the pink looked great on the shelf (because that was a dark area) and why it looked great under intense light (cos it was so bright the dullness and cheaponess was taken away). i cannot trust nail polishes based on their looks in that nail parlour anymore. i'm afraid i'll have to know the colours i want by name from now on!
i want my private jet NOW!
